The ability to reach chill water temperatures in the tropical ocean allows for the development of seawater district cooling systems for large developments and municipalities with large air conditioning loads near the coastal resource. Seawater district cooling (SDC) systems save up to 95% of the energy required for conventional air conditioning in these regions with minimal environmental impact. The economic and environmental benefits associated with such systems can be realized immediately by the end consumer, developer, local government and local utility.
